The Lover by Marguerite Duras was so nice even though I have read a few excepts I found it so interesting and when I get the chance I plan to go to barnes and nobles to buy the book. Ultimately I can tell its about her as a female.. growing up just too quickly. Wanting to be an adult by doing what adults do. Her love affair with the wealthy chinese man makes me cover my mouth and giggle because it is so taboo. If it was to happen today it would be called sagitory rape. She was 15! I kind of understand how she felt though. Sometimes I do wonder myself if I rushed my life, my relationship. I mean I got married at 20 and had a baby at 22. Most people like my mom for example, (dont say it directly to me but I can get the feeling that she) thinks I just ruined my life and I wasted my youth. But I do not feel that way, I am so glad I have the love of my life and a beautiful baby boy. I created a family for myself and I'm happy which is what matters right? Some people make make hasty decsions in life but I feel that ultimately its how you react to them afterwards that shows who you are. I can't wait to buy this book when I get the chance.

Ever since I was litte I have always wondered if depending when you were born or if you have siblings would you have a certain personality. Frank Sulloway who is a "visiting scholar in the Institute of Personality and Social Research at the University of California." (Sulloway) Sulloway wrote a book called Born to Rebel which talks about depending on the order in which you were born depicts to what type of personality you will have. I think that is just so cool. Because in my life I have noticed people who are born and have similar siblings share a similar personality along with certain likes and dislikes of things. I always wondered about my position its a bit complicated but I hope that the book and research online would describe how I am. I am an only child raised by my grandparents (mothers side) I have never known my father or his side of the family. My birth mother was the youngest with an older brother. my Grandma is the second oldest of eight. She has an older sister and younger sister and brothers. My grandfather is the second eldest of five with an older brother and younger brother and sisters. Would their birth order have an affect on me and my personality as well? Time to search for answers.

Yukio Mishima: Biography which was translated by john nathan was extremely interesting. I always have been interested in japanese literature and short stories and Mishimas poems and novels have been added onto my list of favorites. His life story is not much different from any other japanese author I may have read. Japanese culture which is thick with tradition is obviously the reason why most of the stories would go along the lines of (ex. a person who lives in the country, who is poor and works on a farm leaves home to travel to tokyo university for a better life. Or love stories where a poor boy is in love with a rich mans daughter the daughter falls in love with the poor boy but does not want to anger her father. The poor boy does something brave and earns the fathers acceptance.) Stories like these are just a few examples of what mishima writes. He had a love for the Bushido the code of the samurai and he often posed in pictures for his friend Tamotsu Yato like a bushido warrior. Yato who liked to do photos showing off the male body often asked Mishima to pose for him. Also it surprised me when I read that Mishima liked to visit gay bars and was comfortable hanging out there. I've read on other sites that his sexual orientation is still under debate, although I find that ridiculous; he obviously had a gay lover even though he was married. Some of his stories speak about discipline and following the bushido code and how when you feel you must attone to failure the traditional ritual of seppuku must be followed which is a form of "courage, self-control, and strong resolve" (Seppuku information) The whole tradition like many japanese traditions are very beautiful and elegant. Certain things must be done in order to accomplish it properly. Even though in class the professor described mishimas act of seppuku in a humorous manner. How he realized how stabbing yourself will hurt and the other patron to the ritual failed to cut his head off causing more pain then was considered necessary. The ritual is still incredibly interesting.

This saturday I saw the movie twilight based on the insanely popular book (twilight) by stepehenie meyer. I was simply amazed. I knew the fans begged pleaded and petitioned to have this movie made exactly as the book and boy did Summit entertainment deliver. I think they knew if the fans didn't get what they wanted chaos would come upon them. The first time they must have noticed this was the first time they announced doing the movie and withing a day over a million hits attacked the site asking who was being casted and giving their own opinions on who should be casted and why they love this movie so much. Obsessed? Yes I am one of those poeple who read the fanfiction write my own little oneshots and mini stories on what I would like to happen in the story. And yes I did dream about seeing this movie when it was first announced last year. And yes I did read the books dozens of times and made it my mission to have everyone around me read the books as well. It's true I am a Twihard fan and I do encourage everyone to pick up the books visit the suthor stephenie meyers site and enoy it as much as I have and definitely go see the movie. It was amazing.

School is almost over for arnel and I, going on to our careers is a little tough but were managing. We have been together for five years. For Arnel and I our relationship was never hard.. well for me it wasn't I know arnel would agree that, were just two people who enjoy eachothers company and NEVER get bored of eachother.. I always want to be around him.. spend time w/ him show him all the things I've done that day, talk, and spend time with him, and I know no matter how tired, mad, ugly, pretty, grumpy, happy, or sad I get he still wants to be by my side and he will always say he loves me. That's how I feel about Arnel as well.. no matter what I love him.. sounds kinda sappy.. but its the truth.
I haven't traveled like so many other people have, I am actually content at the moment just getting myself together, and working and spending time at home. Being with gabriel as much as possible. Arnel tells me after gabriel is a little bit older we should be able to travel alot. I have a feeling that might not happen but he surprises me on those type of things often, so.. Bring it on xD I have always wanted to go to Japan I love the language and the people and the culture is so amazing to me. I would also love to visit the other asian countries just because of the different sights and sounds the food and feeling of just going far far away and across the world sounds good.

Norman Mailer's The Armies of the Night was a good read. It was written in the third person which can sometimes be annoying. It is like watching a show or movie and you see the character experience things and the camera is right at his back instead of seeing things through his eyes. He places himself right at the front of the situation which is where he was during the March on the Pentagon. According to The Greatest Literature of All Time "The book is subtitled somewhat pretentiously History as a Novel, The Novel as History, signalling this is a new art form. Or just another example of the "New Journalism" of the day giving itself airs." It was different from most historical/novel accounts because of the third person account and dialouge. It wasn't as boring as other historical text which just go on and on and dont really give the feelings of going through the situation.

J.D Salinger is best known for his only book the Catcher in the Rye. He did have many other short story works and as his popularity grew he hated it. He prefered to be left alone and he even lived in a "bunker -- down a quarter of a mile from the house, and he was always there. He’d be there for two weeks at a time. He had a little stove he could heat food on." He lived in Cornish, New Hampshire. Even though he wanted to be left alone he would meet and be with young women and have short relationships and hide away doing work. To this day he keeps himself reserved and hidden away possibly writing great works that probably will never be shown until well after he dies.
